Do they fit?

I do a warm-up before every run. Whether its walking for 1 min up to 5 min. I just don't like the feeling of starting out running cold. My legs don't work right and my stride is off. Yesterday I did my 6 miles. It was hard! I struggled through it but I made it. I was very slow averaging 16:48 miles but I'm not too sore today so I'm trying to look at the positive. I had to push the run back to Sunday because I wasn't able to complete my Thursday night run and it got pushed to Friday. Hubby and I had a battle and he won. :(

My training schedule calls for a 5k next Saturday but there is one in my town this weekend so I'll probably sign up. I'm completely and totally nervous after my 10k, that I'll be last again. I've just got to get over those nerves and make it happen.

I was able to wrangle the boy on Saturday and go to a local parade. The night before I was worried about what I was going to wear because none of my shorts or capris fit right now. I was even thinking about digging out maternity capris! (what? it's really hot here right now) Last minute I decided to try what I had and lo and behold one pair fit! I was completely shocked. My body has changed since having a baby because some others that fit before don't fit now but I hadn't worn these shorts since our DisneyWorld trip in 2010 and I was at least 20 pounds thinner. Weird.

Running through the Sprinklers

I went on a late evening run last night and it was great! I didn't have to take the jogging stroller so my time was much faster. I was also hurrying to get home before dark and before I was eaten alive by the bugs. At the end I had to run through a couple sets of sprinklers and it ended up being fun. I felt like a little kid again.

I am still taking walking breaks but last night I think I only took 3 or 4! That's only one time per mile. It makes me feel so good to see the progress that I'm making. I still haven't lost any weight which is frustrating but I'm sure that it's the food that I eat. Hopefully someday soon I will be ready to tackle this issue. Because I'm sure that if I was thinner I would be much faster.


I'm looking forward to my "short" run tonight and the weekend with just me and my boy. Hopefully a parade is on our schedule. :)

Thinking and Running

When I'm running I think of all these awesome things to talk about on my blog then I get home and I've completely forgotten! haha. Yesterday I really struggled through my run. I think my average pace was almost 17 minutes! I did my 5 mile run on Saturday so I'm wondering if I was just tired. I'm really scared that maybe my body just won't be able to handle Half Marathon training. I'm gonna push as long as I can.

I went to the doctor and she thinks that my blood sugar is off. Because last time I lost a significant amount of weight I was on a pill to help regulate it. I told her that I've tried to get back on this particular medicine but it makes me extremely ill. She ended up giving a prescription for a new form of it that has extended release. That was a week ago and I've been pretty sick every day. Stomach cramps, diarrhea, and nauseousness. Today is the day that I'm supposed to up the dose but I think I may hold off. Yuck.

So, I found out that I am losing my job for sure and its put some new stress on me. We have to be out of our office on August 20th so I'm going to try to work full-time until then. That leaves running to nights or early mornings. Neither sounds like a fun option but I'm going to just have to work it out.

Looking forward

So, things have been busy. My daughter finished up the school year. She had her dance recital which was an adventure in itself. (Not enough seats for excited mothers=Total chaos) I may be losing my part-time job. *sigh* And summer has officially begun!

I've decided to go ahead and start the Half Marathon training. The whole thing still looks extremely daunting to me, but I'm thinking that if I take it one step at a time and not concentrate on the end then maybe I can make it. I ran for 3 miles, 3 days this week. I'm following Hal Higdon's Novice 2 Half Marathon training. The first day was done on the treadmill, but the second I ran at 7 am while my daughter attended cheer practice. It felt good to be outside and doing something. The third run was back on the treadmill. The weather has been so unpredictable. I checked out my treadmill and it is set at a 2.0 incline. I am thinking that might be why I'm a little slower on it. On another note. I keep forgetting to log my runs on DailyMile! I am a complete slacker.

This weekend will be the last one we spend as a family before my daughter goes to visit her "other mother". I am expecting lots of fun even though the waterpark has been ruled out due to weather. Boo. Drive-Inn or Bowling sounds fun. Have a good one!

This and That

I got the email saying that the pictures from the race are ready and wouldn't you know it. There are absolutely none of me! haha. My hubby said that the photographer left a few minutes before I finished. Ugh.

I'm still glad that I chose the 10k but I haven't really been telling too many people that I came in last. When they ask how it went, I just say "good".

I called the doctor and made an appointment today. They didn't have anything until the 12th. Hubby and I are a little worried. I am basically the same weight I was after I gave birth a year ago. I haven't really lost or gained anything. And I told you guys about the hormonal changes. I also want to get my thyroid levels checked. I am currently on medication but I'm wondering if something has changed. It's kind of frustrating when your body doesn't want to cooperate.

On Monday I did an easy 2 miles. It felt good. My knees were a little sore after the race. Then I did 3 miles on Wednesday on the treadmill. I'm way slower on the treadmill. Is anyone else like that?

My son ended up having two birthday parties. One on his actual birthday at the Baseball game and one on Sunday with all of our family and friends. It was a wonderful weekend!
